How To Add and Remove Widgets and Home Screens on Samsung’s Wave

This is a little something that you may not directly know of when you first start using the Samsung’s Wave. How to add/remove widgets and home screens where those widgets are placed on. Usually you will have three home screens and a few widgets already placed on them.

To go into the Widget Editing Mode you have to click on the Widget button in the left upper corner. You will see a scrollable bar appear underneath showing you the widgets installed on your device.

To place a widget on a particular home screen, drag it with your finger upwards and place it where you want it to go. To remove a widget press and hold it until a yellow border appears around it, then drag it back into the bar of available widgets.

You may notice that some widgets have a red stop sign (or a minus sign) on their right upper corner. Those are the widgets that you have installed yourself from Samsung apps store. If you click on the stop sign, you will be able to un-install the widget from your device. Pre-installed widgets cannot be removed.

Another thing to note is that you can only use a widget once on one home screen – i.e. you cannot place the same widget multiple times on different home screens. A widget is used only once. When you are done you can click again on the button in the left upper corner: “Done”. before you do that though, let’s get into the home screen editing mode. To do that, simply tilt your phone into the landscape mode (you should be in portrait mode right now):

Here you are able to scroll and add new home screens (up to 10). You can also remove home screens that do not have any widgets on them – simply click on the stop signs on the right upper corners of the home screens. When you are done, go back into the portrait mode and click on “Done”.

A small thing to note here: the current firmware does not allow you to place shortcuts to your favorite apps on the home screen. I have heard of many people missing this feature – let’s hope Samsung does something about it in the future!

Finally, you can change the wallpaper image of your home screens in Settings. Simply fo into Menu -> Settings -> Display and light .

Enjoy! :-)
